AMAZON RELIEF SFO PRESENTATION

Dear Franciscan brothers and sisters of the East Central Area of the Five Franciscan Martyrs Region:

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you! On Sunday February 5, 2012, The St. Francis of Assisi Fraternity in Apopka Florida will be hosting a presentation by Jim Flickinger SFO on the Amazon Relief project in Brazil.

About twelve years ago, Amazon Relief began working with the "Mauazinho" residents and the Franciscan priests who serve there to assure the children in that area of a better future. "Mauazindo" is a community known as " THE GREEN HELL" region of the Amazon in Brazil. It is also home to 45, 000 lepers who live there. There is nothing more "Franciscan" than working with lepers. It was a major conversion factor in the life of our holy Father Francis. So please come and listen and see the wonderful work our brother Jim Flickinger SFO is doing there.

Our meeting begins at 12:30 PM. Jim's presentation will begin at 1:30 PM. The St. Francis of Assisi Church in Apopka Florida is located at 834 S Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, Fl 32703. So please pass this information on to your fraternity members and anyone else who might be interested. There is " NO" fee and light refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP with me at this E-mail address: wardiea@aol.com

May our Lord give you His peace,
Allen Ward SFO

Evangelization

From our National Minister

Beloved National Family,

As all of us know, we are experiencing language changes in how we celebrate Mass. I am absolutely certain that it is still the same Lord and Savior that I receive at Holy Communion.

Explanation of Acronyms we use:

OFS = Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis

This is the official name of the Order; but similar to all other orders, we use the English translation: Secular Franciscan Order.

Professed members may use the acronym 'OFS' after their last names.

(SFO, the former acronym is no longer in use)

CIOFS = Consilium Internationale Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis
~
translates to: International Council [of the] Secular Franciscan Order

We do not anticipate a change in the name of this website: franciscan-sfo.org - this would create too much confusion in the search engines.
