FIVE FRANCISCAN MARTYRS REGION OBITUARIES

I am sorry to inform you that our Franciscan sister Beryl Painter, SFO has passed away. She has been a Secular Franciscan for almost 45 years, Professed in 1965.

Bless you
Joe Canosa, SFO, St. Bernard Fraternity, Sunrise, Florida (2/24/2006)

Angela Crudell, SFO, age 85, of Little Flowers of St. Francis Fraternity went to the Lord on Friday March 25th, 2006.  Angela was professed as a Franciscan on October 1, 1978.  Angela was a member of the Pilgrim Virgin Mary Rosary Group, and also lead the rosary every day at the nursing home where she lived.  Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, March 28th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.  Angela suffered from
depression in these past few years of her life, but now she can only be happy with our dear Lord, who takes away all our sufferings.

Peg Chmielewski, SFO, Minister

The
Ultima

Ultima in mortis hora,
Filium pro nobis ora,
Bonam mortem impetra,
Virgo, Mater, Domina

"When our day of life is ending
Mary with your Son attending,
Lead us home. To you we call
Virgin Mother, Queen of all."

Wenn wir mit dem Tode ringen,
wird Maria uns beispringen,
daß wir selig scheiden hin,
Jungfrau, Mutter, Königin!

The Ultima is a time-honored Franciscan Hymn. No one knows the origin although it may be German.
It is used at Funerals of the friars. There are several translations.
This translation is used by the Franciscan Friars in Cincinnati, Ohio.
We encourage Secular Franciscans to use this beautiful hymn because
Mary is our Virgin Mother, Queen of all.
