37th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

Today, January 22nd, 2010, some people are celebrating the 37th Anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. Roe v. Wade was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States of America to give women the right to make a choice ... a choice whether to allow a baby be born or be killed. It is a sad thing that there are people who celebrate this infamous decision. It means that in their view, nothing is changed.

Most people believe that God is the creator of all life. Thus, life is a Gift of God, and people who love God won't even think of ever snuffing out a life. The crux of the matter is that those who are pro-choice do not believe that a fetus is a person. Logic defies the notion that a fetus is not a person. 100% of women who give birth full term, receive a son or daughter, a person! They do not give birth to something other than a person, therefore, women give birth to persons, and these persons while in the womb are fetuses.

If you look at an image of that fetus, that little person, you will see that he or she has hands, feet, and looks amazingly similar to that baby which will eventually be born. That little person is very much alive. A fetus, is not some "thing" - he or she is alive and very active, and is made in the image and likeness of God, because we are made in the image and likeness of God. (Gen 1:27)

At the beginning of last week, a SFO sister from Johannesburg, South Africa, emailed me with some alarming messages that the U.S. Government was trying to influence third world and other nations to include abortion as part of their policy and law-making as regards population dynamics. She invited me to read a statement made by Marguerite Peeters, "who is an American citizen residing in Brussels. [M. Peeters] holds a Masters in Art History from the University of the Sorbonne and a post-graduate degree in Journalism from the Robert Schuman Institute. She presently teaches at the Belgian affiliate of the Pontifical Lateran University and will be a visiting professor at the Pontifical University Urbaniana in 2009. As well, Ms. Peeters frequently conducts seminars and holds lectures for a wide variety of Catholic and secular audiences in Europe, Africa and North America. She is an expert in the field of international organizations, human rights, global cultural change and postmodernity."†

What she wrote is entitled, "The new global ethic: challenges for the Church" which is found here, in pdf format. It is a very interesting document that gives the Church and all of us a lot to worry about. These issues, however, need to be addressed, and the time is now.

Words such as "global cultural revolution" portray scary concepts. It is right up there with such phrases as "new global order" - generally these phrases are used by the movers and shakers of a government such as that of the United States, and world leaders without much regard to anyone else. Least of all the people residing in these countries.

I also found a speech given by Mrs. Clinton (U.S. Secretary of State) on January 15th, 2010; please see comments on this by Catholic News Agency. These comments are worth reading because it seems while most people are struggling with the economy, our leaders have nothing better to do than to push the so-called "Obama agenda" unto the rest of the world.

Let us continue to pray for an end to abortion. If all Christians pray for this, it will happen. Maybe not in my lifetime, but some day it will.

God bless all of you!
