248. A Healing in Holland

A Dutch friend of mine, told me about a miraculous healing in the town of Bleskensgraaf (Pop. 2800) in the Netherlands. In researching this matter further, I found an article in Dutch (I'm a native of the Netherlands) and make some translations. (Source: www.ad.nl  (a Dutch newspaper website, written in Dutch)). Since this article is protected under copyright, I will just give you the highlights:

"Miraculous healing in Bleskensgraaf"

"After 17 years of the most intense pain, Janneke Vlot, got up out of her wheelchair on March 4th and walked! The Erasmus Medical Center: Unbelievable!"

Her husband, Teus Vlot, in 2004 was ready to tear up the Bible, because he was so angry that his wife, Janneke had to suffer so much. Even though he was a man of deep faith, he almost gave it all up until he realized: "I prayed for trust, and I received it. Anger is not the answer."

Janneke, who is 44 never got angry about her suffering. She avers: "God does not make mistakes," and she wrote friends in 2004, "Some day I will be healed and walk again." She had trust in God, and this trust never wavered.

In the evening of March 4, 2007, while at a healing service given by the evangelist Jan Zijlstra "God can do great things in Women" -- shortly after the evangelist uttered this sentence, "Janneke left her wheelchair and began to walk. She stamped her feet on the ground, without pain." She has been walking ever since.

"Teus (45), owner of a company in ship diesel engines with 75 people in his employ, said, "I have been praying for this healing for years. I believe in it. But when it happens, your eyes fall out of their sockets. In the same night, Janneke, now at home again, took a bicycle, and took a ride as if this was totally normal."

There is no more pain. She sleeps normal again, and wakes up well rested. Her pain and suffering began in 1990 after a fall on her knee left her with post-traumatic dystrophy, an illness known for its terrible pains in the muscles. She was principally confined to bed, her nerves and musculature gradually deteriorated further, and bones decalcified. After many operations and other painful medical procedures in as many hospitals, did not deliver the desired results, there was further suffering.

She indicated in the final years of her disease that she "felt dead inside her body." Last year at the Erasmus Medical Center there was a large research investigation into dystrophy patients. It was determined that the "physical damage was permanent, the chance of a normal life, null." So all the more it is a miraculous healing - the medical establishment is amazed. "When the test results came in, we and the researchers had tears in our eyes."

As her husband said, "God does not create imperfection. What He did in the Bible then, He is still doing in the year 2007."

The reporter further quotes Janneke: "I had to experience this journey, and now I have to tell His message to the world, that even in this age, He wants to be close to people, to be with all who are suffering. God works through all church walls and he does not require conditions."

There is much unbelief in the Netherlands, as there is here and everywhere. Miracles do happen to those who trust in Him. Janneke and Teus are members of the Dutch Reformed Church; as far as I can determine, these are essentially Calvinists.

It is very important for all people to understand that when God desires a healing to take place, He looks at our relationship with Him. If that relationship is one of prayer and obedience (e.g. Ten Commandments, which are basic to almost all Christian religions), they that trust in God enjoy his presence and healing. That is a very important distinction, my friends. I'm not saying that Jesus would not heal someone who does not know Him, but we know that He will heal those who have a devout relationship with Jesus.
