Jesus is filled with
sorrow to learn that many do not believe that he is truly present in
the Eucharist. There have been many Eucharistic miracles in the
world to show that he is present in the host and in the chalice. He
is there in His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. He is present in
the Eucharist in the same way as He now lives with the Father in
heaven.
If you do not believe
that He is truly present in the Eucharist, then you do not believe
His teachings. At the time of the consecration at Mass, the priest
takes the bread and says these words: "This is My Body which will be
given up for you." Over the cup the priest says: "This is the cup of
My Blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be
shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in
memory of Me." These words of consecration were spoken by Jesus
Himself at the Last Supper when He uttered them over the bread and
wine and changed these species into His very Body and Blood.
His teachings about the
Eucharist can also be found in the Bible. You will find His words
concerning the Eucharist in John 6:35-71. These words are addressed
to all personally and call upon you to believe this teaching of Him.
If you believe in Him, you will believe His words, especially when
He says, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the
Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I
will raise him on the last day. For My flesh is true food and My
blood is true drink.’ Come, friends with a believing heart, to
receive Him often in the Eucharist. He wants to live in your heart
always.”
The above three paragraphs is about
what Jesus spoke directly, today, to a Canadian Catholic priest who
receives Jesus in contemplation on a daily basis. It was relayed as
Jesus spoke in first person singular. However, for the purpose of
this writing, I have rephrased it in third person. That's because it
wouldn't be right for me to quote Jesus as he speaks to another
human being which the Church would consider "private revelation."
In articles which I've written, which
come to me from the Holy Spirit, as for example, these
previously written articles. Please note
that these articles are hooked together (arrows on bottom of these
pages) to a small series of other articles. When you read those, you
will find that what Jesus told the contemplative priest, above, is
substantially the same. And the Teachings of the Church also
parallel Jesus' Words.
We all have been told at one time or
another that Jesus in Heaven isn't lacking anything. He sits at the
right hand of the Father, and probably with His Mother Mary not far
away, and He is no longer human but He is spirit. And because of
that, He lives in a much bigger time-frame than we humans do. Our
day is 24 hours long. His day is forever. So if you follow my
reasoning (a very small effort to get a point across) Jesus is
still suffering from our mistakes, our arrogance and our pride,
because those hours on the Cross are for Him now, forever. I
am sure theologians will tell me I do not have the qualifications to
make such a statement. Yet I feel emboldened to make it, because
unless we realize that Jesus is still suffering, as He is during the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, then we are out of step with Him. As
soon as we realize that our mistakes have consequences, we will be
on the path to being saved. We can call ourselves Christian until we
are blue in the face, but unless we act accordingly, Jesus is still
suffering. And we, oh poor people, will suffer more.
Given the situation in the world
today, and suffering on the part of all people. Many of my friends
have Cancer and other life-threatening problems. My own health isn't
that great either, but there is nothing life-threatening as far as I
know. What is more life-threatening is when we are living in sin.
That is an illness too. Continually doing wrong things can be an
addiction, as for example, alcoholism is, or taking drugs. Many seek
things of transitional pleasure, and these can be very sinful
because they are, essentially, acts of pride. We are saying to Jesus
- " I'm doing it my way because I know you understand me." That, my
friends, is a dangerous excuse. How dare we to presume that Jesus
understands our prideful exhibition of sinning? Jesus understands us
very well. After all, as God, he has superior intellect and more
Wisdom that anyone else. But do we understand Jesus? If we did, and
if we truly love Him, then we will do everything possible to repent,
atone for our sins, and sin no more.
But there will come a point, I
believe, that God will say "Enough!" To the righteous, the people
who love God and who are truly friends of Jesus, they will be
further enlightened. But they will also recognize their error, and
what else they need to do to repent. And those who are not
righteous, those who are living in sin and know it, who have no
desire to love Jesus, will they be given a new chance in life to
repent? Jesus loves each one of you. If you are given such an
opportunity to repent, do not waste it away. For if you then do
nothing to change yourself, then there would be much less hope.
To love Jesus, particularly if you
are a Roman Catholic, or if you were a baptized Catholic but you
fell away... come back to us! Don't come to us with an attitude that
this Church has failed you. It hasn't. You have failed God. The
Church isn't perfect, I know that, and there is much sorrow in my
life because of that, but what is the Church? It is people, men and
women who tread this path, this pilgrimage with us, with me, with
you, and with Jesus. Come back, in a humble way, accepting the means
the Church provides to confess your sins and try, try again. And,
for those of you, who are of another Faith, there are ample means in
your belief-system, to come clean with yourself vis-a-vis Our Lord
God. Take these avenues, and do go to church. Talk to a minister, or
an elder.
Jesus is present in the Holy
Eucharist. For a long time, there was a Lutheran Minister coming to
our Church, a Catholic Church, because he recognized the True
Presence of Jesus Christ in our Tabernacles. Many years ago, there
was true miracle at Lanciano, Italy.
If you clicked on this link, you will have read the
article I prepared on the Lanciano miracle. The story is quite
astounding, isn't it? To me, it is an iron-clad confirmation that
Jesus is indeed present under the lowly species of bread and
wine after the priest, at Holy Mass, has consecrated these
substances. When I receive Holy Communion, whether in one or both
species, I know, He is within me. And I feel his Presence so very
strongly. It gives me hope. He gives me Joy. And, He gives me
inspiration to talk of Him on this website in glowing terms.
My ability to master a website came
to me not from schooling, but because I did this sort of work, by
trial and error, when I was, in 1998-2002, a monk in a contemplative
order. I am not a monk now, largely because of a stroke I
experienced in 2002. Contemplative Orders believe that when a person
gets ill, especially a long illness, or a stroke or heart attack,
that this is a sign they have no vocation. And maybe that is what
caused my superior to recommend I go home. However, over time, I
have found that my ability with websites has opened up for me, an
opportunity to speak to you of my love for God, for Jesus and for
His, and Our, Mother. My life is still very monastic, although now I
am a lay person albeit under Vows, and a lay Franciscan. I am glad I can live this way and
still be able to function and spread the Good News to one and all.
The only reason I can spread this Good News is because I know,
undeniably and without reservations, that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God, and that He loves us so very much. Each of us, as individuals.
And, he is beckoning us to follow Him. He is asking us to come join
Him in this Eucharistic banquet, so that we can, when life is done
on earth, join Him for all eternity. Amen.
